¿Cuánto más rápido se ejecutará Android Studio con soporte Apple Silicon que ejecutar la misma aplicación grande en el Asus Rog Strix G15 con un Ryzen 9? People have been asking how to enter for a chance to win. You don't have to do anything. I just pick a random subscriber every week – https://youtu.be/we6QxdvkYsI
Does anyone know if hardware acceleration was enabled in the ryzen system?
My laptop slows down if I set the power profile to max performance. It's kinda weird.
It is a gaming laptop, of course you have to plug it in. It's drawing power from both AC and battery for intensive tasks.
Loved the video, but that "white theme / dark theme" felt a bit raci… COUGH funny , I meant funny 😀
Bro windows anti-virus slows down build
Why u didn’t launch any emulator? I think is the second most important thing when we compare Android Studio performance
Funny that you are testing with a Windows 11 that is currently on beta. It's not a stable release yet and it could be even more unstable if you are on the dev channel
This is a nice test, but Android Studio is slow on Wndows. I dare you to repeat this with any Linux distro on Ryzen – Ubuntu or Fedora. You'll be surprised 🙂
Well I did the same with my laptop (ROG Zephyrus G15 GA503QM-HN035) with Ryzen 7 5800HS
I downloaded the benchmark project and got the next results
1 run – 1 m 14 sec
2 run – 44 sec
3 run – 41 sec
My laptop is not stock. I replaced ssd to Samsung 980 Pro and added 32gb RAM stick and I use Windows 11
So results in a video are a bit strange for me
Windows is the main culprit here, not the hardware. Linux on the same machine would yield substantially better results
Its crazy fast🥺😎♥️♥️
2013 iMac with i7 and 16GB RAM scores 9:49s on cold run while seconds run onwards @2:20s
But it won’t get BigSur update so…
Thank you for continuously justifying my first big purchase in a while. Dropping almost $1600 after buying my ASUS Rog that randomly decided to take a dump was hard to do.
Which one you prefer Macbook m1 16gb ram vs macbook pro m1 with 8gb
For Developers
You can also use Android Studio in Linux on Intel. It could have also some impact. I haven't used Windows for a while but it was significantly slower there five years ago.
guys when you compare the price 2000 and 1000, keep in mind that apple with same ram and ssd as asus but no hz on screen also cost 2000… litteraly base model asus have more specs than base apple, and top model on both have same spec and same price…
Half the price.
Almost twice as fast.
Insane.
Great video 😊😊 I wish I could also see a video about a speed test from opening a project, build, open and install an app to AVD, and updating the installed app inside AVD between Mac OS, Linux, and Windows 😊😊
Maybe try Linux on the PC machine? A lot of people use Linux based SO in Android development.
Can’t believe the speed of the m1 chip. It’s not enough to makes me want to move over to MacBook. I love multitasking with windows. Any programmer knows how much you swap between windows and multitask. Some prefer Mac for its terminal for its ease and simplicity. I prefer finding and moving windows as quick as possible. Look at the bright side of windows builds, it’s gives a needed break lmao.
@Alexander – You really are doing such a wonderful comparisons for us, have you tested somelike Ryzen 9 on Linux with M1.. I mean maybe its the OS that's slowing things down or something ??
Don't you think it is a bit unfair to run it on windows 11? as it is still not on a stable release, and on my windows 11 machine at this point in time android dev is a lot slower then on win 10
